Item La narración como forma básica de elocución literaria(CEP USM, 2024) Lipcan, ValentinaThis work focuses on discovering what narrative and linguistic methods and resources can be used to obtain a defined literary elocution. We try to extract textual characteristics from a narrative by connecting concepts of narratology with other branches of philology. Focusing on different theoretical bases, we try to highlight the narrative, stylistic and linguistic complexity of the novel “La Regenta” by Leopoldo Alas (Clarín).Item A contrastive analysis of tourism terminology in English, French and Romanian(CEP USM, 2024) Ciobanu, SvetlanaAcest studiu abordează terminologia ca proces și produs, analizând vocabularul utilizat în domeniul turismului, în special dificultățile terminologice în procesul de traducere a termenilor și textelor turistice, din punct de vedere structural și semantic, stabilirea asemănărilor și deosebirilor dintre terminologia limbii engleze și cea a limbilor franceze și române, precum și identificarea procedeelor practice și strategiilor de bază utilizate în procesul de traducere. Analiza este bazată pe un corpus trilingv care încearcă să dezvăluie modul în care mai multe tehnici de traducere permit traducătorilor să evite posibilele inadecvări ale traducerii. Produsele cercetării sunt un glosar de 150 termeni din domeniul turismului, un vocabular de 100 denumiri de mâncăruri tradiționale autentice, specifice zonelor geografice ale Republicii Moldova și 5 fișe terminologice executate în trei versiuni lingvistice.Item Translation analysis of Romanian subtitling of figurative speech in the series Anne with an ‘E’(CEP USM, 2024) Paladi, LauraFigurative language subtitling presents a complex undertaking that requires professionally managing linguistic limitations, cultural differences, and the necessity to preserve visual and auditory coherence. The aim of this research is to identify occurrences of figurative language in the episodes of the Netflix series Anne with an 'E' and analyse the translation techniques used in subtitling the figures of speech from English to Romanian.Item The development of fan-generated translations: the case of fansubbing (based on the English and Russian material)(CEP USM, 2024) Balan, DoinițaThis paper explores fan-generated translations, specifically fansubbing, in English and Russian materials. It compares professional subtitling and amateur fansubbing practices using the case study of “Star Trek: Into Darkness”. The research highlights the historical evolution of audiovisual translation, the non-professional translation practices, and the impact of fansubbing on traditional methodologies. It also discusses the ethical and legal issues surrounding fansubbing, its role in shaping media accessibility, the cross-cultural exchange, and the challenges faced by fansubbers in preserving cultural nuances. Although metaphors have traditionally been regarded as a stylistic device, they are deeply rooted in our conceptual system, influencing the way we perceive, think, and act in a range of situations. Conceptual metaphors used in the political discourse can influence and manipulate the consciousness of entire masses.Item Translating museum texts from Romanian intoenglish(CEP USM, 2024) Avram, MihaelaThe purpose of this study is to determine the role that translation studies play in translating museum texts from Romanian into English. The study is conducted by means of theoretical analysis, data collected from scholars in both domains, and practical analysis, by selecting and analysing conclusive examples of museum texts (wall texts, labels, signages) that demonstrate lexico-semantic, grammatical, and stylistic transformations.Item Analysing the translation of humour in the american sitcom “Friends”(CEP USM, 2024) Răileanu, AnastasiaThe main goal of the research is to examine strategies for effectively translating humour in subtitles, balancing fidelity to the original and adaptability to the target language. In the context of globalisation, they serve as tools for intercultural communication. The study of proverbs in English and Romanian helps to understand how to preserve cultural identity in translation.
