La inteligencia artificial y la enseñanza del español como lengua extranjera en Europa del Este: retos y oportunidades [Articol]
(CEP USM, 2025) Robles Menendez, Ivan
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in teaching Spanish as a foreign language is transforming learning methods, especially in contexts where education follows traditional models. This article examines how AI and new technologies can modernize the teaching of Spanish in the Eastern European context, where the educational approach remains heavily influenced by the grammar-translation method and where curricula often lack contemporary cultural elements. Tools such as ChatGPT, Kahoot!, and Genially, among others, are discussed, highlighting their potential to enhance classroom interaction and personalize learning. Additionally, Spain’s commitment to promoting Spanish abroad and the need to integrate digital strategies into international educational programs are analyzed. Finally, the article reflects on the impact of Spain’s new education law (LOMLOE) on the digitalization of teaching and presents proposals to ensure the effective implementation of AI in Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) instruction in this region.

Lingüística comparada en la enseñanza del español como lengua extranjera (ele): aplicaciones y estrategias didácticas [Articol]
(CEP USM, 2025) Melgar García, Carlos
The acquisition of Spanish as a foreign language (ELE) is shaped by the student’s native language, which can either aid or hinder learning. Comparative Linguistics helps understand language transfer and reduce interference. This study examines its impact on ELE, identifying frequent errors and suggesting contrastive teaching strategies. Recurrent mistakes in verb conjugation, article usage, and pronunciation are analyzed through comparisons with Romance, Germanic, Slavic, and non-Indo-European languages. Adapted teaching materials are proposed. Results emphasize the need to integrate Comparative Linguistics into ELE to optimize Spanish learning, reduce fossilization, and enhance communicative competence. A contrastive approach promotes more effective and tailored learning to linguistic diversity.

Interacțiuni lingvistice și literare între limbile romano-germanice [Articol]
    (CEP USM, 2025) Mărgărit, Corina-Emanuela
The study of Romance-Germanic languages and their linguistic and literary interactions is essential for understanding the evolution of European language and literature. The Romance and Germanic languages, as two fundamental branches of the Indo-European family, have profoundly influenced the formation of cultural and linguistic identities in Europe. This paper aims to explore recent trends in the linguistic and literary studies of these languages, analyzing how new theories and practices in comparative linguistics and literature contribute to the understanding of the connections between Romance-Germanic languages. In an era of rapid globalization and digitalization, interactions and borrowings between these languages are constantly evolving, leading to a reevaluation of research methods and traditional approaches in the study of language and literature.

Structuri frazeologice ale termenului bubă în limba română. O perspectivă etnolingvistică [Articol]
    (CEP USM, 2025) Comorașu, Aura
This study aims to explore the way to highlight the significance of images related to diseases generically called bube in the structure of phraseologisms, highlighting, in particular, their relationship with the set of beliefs and superstitions with which they are associated. Thus, the phraseological structures based on the term bubă will be examined from the perspective of the role that the disease plays in the popular mentality, a role that we will outline through the information provided by folklore, ethnography, sociology and the history of mentalities. By analyzing how illness is conceptualized in language, a window is opened that allows a deep understanding of the popular mentality. Knowledge regarding illness and suffering thus constitutes a point of convergence between culture and nature, and the study of phraseologisms from an ethnolinguistic perspective provides a broad understanding of how language reflects and transmits human knowledge and beliefs.

    Dinamismul limbajului medical [Articol]
(CEP USM, 2025) Bulai, Mădălina Roxana
Technological and scientific advancements directly influence vocabulary, the most dynamic and flexible component of language. These changes lead to the emergence of new terms, the semantic reinterpretation of existing words, and their adaptation in both general and specialized language. This paper analyzes medical discourse by identifying the functions and meanings of terms in various types of texts, examining specific semantic processes, and assessing the expressiveness of lexical units that have undergone terminologization. It also explores the interaction between medical language and other specialized fields. In other words, the enrichment of medical vocabulary is a complex process that involves both the assimilation of new terms and their correct usage. This dynamic influences professional communication and impacts both specialists and the general public.

Literatura ca instrument de predare a culturemului juridic: curtea cu jurați evocată în nuvelele lui Guy de Maupassant [Articol]
    (CEP USM, 2025) Ciobâcă, Carmen-Ecaterina
The paper presents the approach to teaching the legal cultureme during seminars on specialized languages. The concept of the court with jurors, as reflected in several short stories by the French author Guy de Maupassant, is given as an example. Literary works often possess a clear documentary value, standing out as a radiography of the mentalities, morals, and legal and judicial realities of a given era. In the introduction, we define the legal cultureme as a unit carrying cultural information and present the specifics of the court with jurors in France. We then review how the trial conducted within the court with jurors is portrayed in Maupassant’s short stories, as well as the terminological and cultural comprehension difficulties found in the texts. The final part of the paper is dedicated to the typologies of the defendants and the crimes they committed. Humor, irony, and sarcasm are intrinsic features of Maupassant’s style, and these can be further explored together with the students.

Traduire les paroles d’un saint en langue française : défis et difficultés [Articol]
    (CEP USM, 2025) Dumas, Felicia
The article analyses the challenges and difficulties involved in translating from Romanian into French the words of a twentieth-century Romanian monk recently canonised by the Romanian Orthodox Church, Father Saint Cleopas (Ilie) of the monastery of Sihăstria (located in the department of Neamț). These words appear in the book dedicated to him in Romanian by Father Ioanichie Balan, a monk from the same monastic community, who knew him during his lifetime. The book in question is Viața Părintelui Cleopa, translated into French as Le Père Cléopas by the hieromonk Marc Alric, now His Grace Marc Nemțeanul, vicar bishop of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolis of Western and Southern Europe. The challenges and difficulties of translation lie in the orality of Father Cleopas’s words, as well as in the idiomaticity of some of the expressions used, the best-known of which was his emotional blessing to pilgrims who came to him for spiritual advice: ‘mânca-v-ar raiul să vă mănânce’.

Omisiunea ca strategie de traducere a știrilor online: o perspectivă funcțională [Articol]
    (CEP USM, 2025) Tataru, Iurie
This research explores omission as a complex strategy in the context of online news translation, examining it from a functional standpoint and investigating the crucial balance between translation functionality and the accuracy of conveying the source message. The study investigates the potential benefits of omission, such as improving clarity, conciseness, and relevance for the target audience. It also examines the associated risks, such as the loss of essential information, distortion of the original meaning, and potential manipulation. Methodologically, the research takes a quantitative approach, analyzing a sample of 47 examples drawn from 22 online news articles translated from Romanian to English on the IP Teleradio-Moldova platform. The results of the investigation show that omission is primarily used to remove lexical redundancies, without significantly altering the essential informational content. The analysis revealed no dominant ideological motivation in the use of this strategy, with most omissions occurring at the lexical level.
