    The goal of this article is to shed light on the power of conceptual metaphors and to emphasise their importance for the political discourse and peculiarities of their translation. Although metaphors have traditionally been regarded as a stylistic device, they are deeply rooted in our conceptual system, influencing the way we perceive, think, and act in a range of situations. Conceptual metaphors used in the political discourse can influence and manipulate the consciousness of entire masses.

    Translating museum texts from Romanian intoenglish

    The purpose of this study is to determine the role that translation studies play in translating museum texts from Romanian into English. The study is conducted by means of theoretical analysis, data collected from scholars in both domains, and practical analysis, by selecting and analysing conclusive examples of museum texts (wall texts, labels, signages) that demonstrate lexico-semantic, grammatical, and stylistic transformations.

    Analysing the translation of humour in the american sitcom “Friends”

    The main goal of the research is to examine strategies for effectively translating humour in subtitles, balancing fidelity to the original and adaptability to the target language. The diploma paper provides opportunity to explore theoretical material regarding humour and its transfer from one language into another as well as a comparative analysis of the source language and target language segmenting it into four parts: translation of sarcasm, irony, allusions, puns and jokes.

    Proverbs are time capsules that preserve the age-old wisdom and customs of the people. In the context of globalisation, they serve as tools for intercultural communication. The study of proverbs in English and Romanian helps to understand how to preserve cultural identity in translation. The aim of this study is to identify types of equivalents and methods for effective translation of proverbs with cultural sensitivity.

    Enantiosemia lexicală şi frazeologică în limba română

    The linguistic phenomenon of enantiosemy is considered to be semantic polarity – the merging of opposite meanings within the same word, which depends on the context. The specific nature of the phenomenon of enantiosemy is that an enantionym combines within itself two opposite meanings. The majority of contemporary scholars emphasize that, in the use of speech, the possibility of enantiosemic words appearing is practically unlimited, which allows us to state that enantiosemy is a very widespread phenomenon.

    Prenume feminine româneşti în diacronie (sec. XVII-XIX)

    La thèse de master vise à décrire dans une perspective morphologique, étymologique et sémantique le répertoire des prénoms féminins roumains du XVII-XIX e siècle et déterminer les influences sur l’inventaire collecté et les tendances de perpétuation des prénoms identifiés dans l’usage courant. Le concept d’anthroponymie a été défini et le degré de re- cherche en anthroponymie en linguistique roumaine a été étudié en présentant les études et les auteurs qui ont contribué au fondement théorique de ce domaine. Une attention particulière a été accordée à la présentation des classifications du nom propre et à la révélation de la composante religieuse dans l’anthroponymie roumaine.

    A creative approach to teaching english grammar

    Cercetarea prezentă analizează eficacitatea predării creative a gramaticii limbii en- gleze, explorând relația dintre gândire critică și însușirea structurilor gramaticale. Ipoteza cercetării susține că instruirea gramaticală creativă, prin activități precum jocuri de cuvinte, exerciții de scriere creativă, personalizare și prezentări multi-media, poate îmbunătăți rezultatele învățării, inclusiv prin dezvoltarea competențelor gramaticale ale elevilor. Rezultatele studiului cvazi-experimental demonstrează eficiența abordării creative și a strategiilor de exersare a gramaticii în mod inovativ.
