ELEMENTE CROMATICE ÎN PREZENTAREA ASPECTULUI FIZIC AL PERSONAJELOR CÂTORVA ROMANE REALISTE FRANCEZE DIN SECOLUL AL XIX-LEA

Abstract

With the passage of time and with the socio-political world evolution, people also change – not just figuratively, but also directly – from a physiognomic point of view. Like the fine arts, literature presents the proof of this finding truth. And if fine artists have left as a legacy image of their era people, using for this purpose shapes and colors, then writers have used words and colors. They have encoded in these ones meanings and symbols worthy of being discovered and interpreted specially for their cognitive and artistic values. The colors integrated in French realist novels of the 19th century possess multiple meanings that travel through space and time. It is not accidentally that realist authors pay considerable attention to the characters’ physical appearance. Not only in fine arts, but also in literature, the way colors are understood and interpreted has an essential role to play in conveying the message to addressee.
