The study of Romance-Germanic languages and their linguistic and literary interactions is essential for understanding the evolution of European language and literature. The Romance and Germanic languages, as two fundamental branches of the Indo-European family, have profoundly influenced the formation of cultural and linguistic identities in Europe. This paper aims to explore recent trends in the linguistic and literary studies of these languages, analyzing how new theories and practices in comparative linguistics and literature contribute to the understanding of the connections between Romance-Germanic languages. In an era of rapid globalization and digitalization, interactions and borrowings between these languages are constantly evolving, leading to a reevaluation of research methods and traditional approaches in the study of language and literature.

The paper presents the approach to teaching the legal cultureme during seminars on specialized languages. The concept of the court with jurors, as reflected in several short stories by the French author Guy de Maupassant, is given as an example. Literary works often possess a clear documentary value, standing out as a radiography of the mentalities, morals, and legal and judicial realities of a given era. In the introduction, we define the legal cultureme as a unit carrying cultural information and present the specifics of the court with jurors in France. We then review how the trial conducted within the court with jurors is portrayed in Maupassant’s short stories, as well as the terminological and cultural comprehension difficulties found in the texts. The final part of the paper is dedicated to the typologies of the defendants and the crimes they committed. Humor, irony, and sarcasm are intrinsic features of Maupassant’s style, and these can be further explored together with the students.

    (Editura USM, 2024) Grossu-Chiriac, Cristina
Visual materials are a tool introduced into the teaching process as early as the 17th century, their significance and effect being justified by Jan Comenius, the father of modern pedagogy. During the 20th century visual materials gained ground. In this study, ways of using visual materials as a teaching tool in teaching literature will be presented. The types of visual materials used especially in teaching literature at high school and university in the Republic of Moldova will be exposed. Images from high school textbooks will be selectively presented, visual tools proposed to students in literature courses on the moodle platform, their impact will be researched, and some new, current tools will be discussed. As digital culture and technology evolve, new and diversified visual tools are emerging, adapted to the needs of the audience and the times we live in. One example is memes, a form of art and social commentary that is spreading rapidly on social media. Memes are already making their debut in education, starting to be used by teachers in teaching several subjects, including literature.

LITERATURA DUPĂ UN SECOL DE CONFRUNTĂRI ESTETICE
    (Pontos, 2019) Pavlicenco, Sergiu

    (CEP USM, 2021) Cotorcea, Silvia
The concepts of space and time have their origins in ancient times, even if they were understood differently. Throughout the twentieth century, scientists have established the indisputable connection and mutual relationship between them, giving rise to the notion of chronotope. From the beginning this concept was approached interdisciplinary, sitting on the boundaries between philosophy, aesthetics, mathematics, physics. Over the years, the notion of chronotope has been taken over in various fields of activity, respectively, and in literature, but its reception to this day can only be achieved interdisciplinary.
