    The problem of abbreviations in specialized translation

    The aim of this paper is to examine the problem of abbreviations and the strategies used to ensure clarity and accuracy in specialized translation. Being used in expert communication with the aim of increasing conciseness and efficiency, abbreviations present a unique challenge that stems from the difficulty of disambiguation and correlation with the extended terminological unit. Therefore, using appropriate strategies of translation will aid the translator in avoiding errors and reflecting accurately the concept in the target text.

    Traducerea specializată reprezintă în prezent o condiție sine-qua-non a comunicării specializate la nivel interlingvistic. În acest context, este important ca deciziile traducătorului în soluționarea anumitor dificutăți de traducere să nu afecteze valoarea semantică a textului-țintă și să nu distorsioneze înțelegerea acestuia. În articolul de față analizăm din punct de vedere lexico-semantic și traductologic o serie de termeni din domeniul învățământului superior în limba engleză și română, care se încadrează în categoria „prietenilor falși” ai traducătorului.

    Ȋn prezentul articol, ȋncercăm să oferim o definiţie a conceptului aşa cum este el privit ȋn lingvistica modernă. De asemenea prezentăm câteva detalii cu privire la „metafora conceptuală”, funcţia, definiţia şi clasificarea acesteia, ofe- rind o serie de exemple. Ȋn cea de a doua parte a articolului, prezentăm două metode principale de cercetare a conceptului ȋn lingvistica cognitivă.

    This paper aims at examining the notion of synonymy in the specialized languages, an d how it is perceived in relation with the principle of univocity of designation and concept, fundamental for the study of terminology. The analysis of the provided examples is intended to illustrate the occurrence and distribution of synonyms in the terminology from the domain of biomedical engineering and the role of the phenomenon in the specialized communication in this particular domain. domain.

    THE CONCEPTUAL CATEGORIES OF EMOTIO NS RENDERED BY THE IMAGE OF “THE HEART” USED IN SO MATIC PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS

    The phraseological units with a somatic lexeme comprise a big amount of linguistic evidence for studying the spiritual culture in different languages. In this paper we conducted a research of somatic phraseological units that contain the “heart” lexeme in the English, Romanian and Russian Languages. The examples under analysishave been collected from dictionaries and classified according to “the heart” image which denotes a certain conceptual category of emotions. The study was performed following the semantic criteria suggested by the American professor G. Lakoff, the Romanianresearcher N. Anghelescu and also by the famous Polish linguist A. Wierzbicka. Having completed the research we identified similarities and differences both in the category of emotion concept and in the images of ‘the heart” that describe these concepts in the three languages of study. The results of the investigation are reflected in tables contained in the paper

    CONCEPTUL DE COMPORTAMENT ŞI MODALITĂŢILE DE EXPRESIE LINGVISTICĂ A LUI

    Conceptul de comportamentocupăun loc important printre noţiunile care se referă direct la sfera conceptuală a omului şi, implicit, a societăţii din care acesta face parte. Analiza şi studierea conceptului permite identificarea imaginii comportamentale a lumii, în genere, şi înţelegerea motivaţiei faptelor şi acţiunilor individului, în particular. Articolul de faţă prezintă principalele interpretări ale comportamentului prin prisma ştiinţelor umanistice şi pune în evidenţă analiza acestui termen din perspectivă lingvistică. De asemenea, conţine o trecere în revistă a demersurilor ştiinţifice, a definiţiilor şi punctelor de vedere ale cercetătorilor lingvişti care s-au ocupat de această problemă
