Le français québécois dans le domaine dictionnairique franco-canadien [Articol]
    (CEP USM, 2025) Piraro, Sergio
The French spoken in Quebec is different from all other French in the world. Every word, every expression is a precious legacy from our ancestors. Why is Quebec French different from that of France? One must know the history of Quebec to understand how this language was shaped. Brought in the 16th and 17th centuries by immigrants from various regions of France, the French spoken in Canada consisted of local patois and dialects that were, at the time, well-rooted in the European metropolis. Once here, they often found themselves with a neighbour who spoke a different patois, hence the need for a common language. In what follows, I will attempt to highlight and describe, using a synchronic and diachronic classification, the most salient lexical examples that characterize the Quebec variety. To better examine certain words, I have looked at a few vocabularies. Studying some Quebec words in dictionary works helped us to better understand the Quebec variety.
