    Means of using abbreviations in specialised texts [Articol]

    This article explores the use of abbreviations in the specialised text, namely in the field of education, and highlights the importance of their proper introduction to avoid the reader’s confusion. Abbreviations play a vital role in improving readability, conciseness, and comprehension in the technical context besides getting readers’ attention and easing the process of writing. The study focuses on the benefits of using abbreviations such as acronyms and initialisms to shorten complex terms and the need to decode abbreviations upon their first use, especially for less common terms, considering the potential challenges faced by the non-native readers and those from different fields. Various approaches to introducing abbreviations are presented, advocating for methods that prioritize precision and the reader’s understanding over strict adherence to rules. Ultimately, the correct and strategic use of abbreviations can significantly enhance the effectiveness of the technical communication by promoting clarity, avoiding repetition, saving space, and increasing the reader’s engagement.

    The problem of abbreviations in specialized translation

    The aim of this paper is to examine the problem of abbreviations and the strategies used to ensure clarity and accuracy in specialized translation. Being used in expert communication with the aim of increasing conciseness and efficiency, abbreviations present a unique challenge that stems from the difficulty of disambiguation and correlation with the extended terminological unit. Therefore, using appropriate strategies of translation will aid the translator in avoiding errors and reflecting accurately the concept in the target text.

    CONSIDERAȚII GENERALE ASUPRA ABREVIERII CA FENOMEN LINGVISTIC ( incursiune diacronică )

    În acest articol ne-am propus să prezentăm o sinteză a lucrărilor de specialitate referitoare la problem a abrevierii în general. În acest sens, am investigat bibliografia științifică existentă în mai multe limbi moderne, oprindune în mod special la limba română, de interes pentru cercetarea noastră. Urmărim interesul lingviștilor din diferite țări faţă defelul în care se prezintă abrevierea ca procedeu, proces și produs în diferite limbi și constatăm atât similitudini în interpretare, cât și diferențe, inclusiv la nivel de termeni folosiţi pentru a desemna același fenomen lingvistic. Remar căm prezența disc uțiilor vizavi de acest subiect în lingvistica românească în general pe tot parcursul stabilirii ei ca știință. Variați autori cu autoritate în studiul limbii române au dezvoltat conceptul descriindu-l din diferite aspecte, alcătuind tipologii, ordonând fa ptele de limbă în dicționare speciale dedicate abrevierilor.
