Influența razelor X asupra unei linii homozigote de porumb
(CEP USM, 2024) Micu, Alexandru; Bucor, Nicolai

Study of juxtaposition effect in maize using three-gene chains
    (CEP USM, 2024) Mikhailov, Mikhail
The recombination frequency in maize in marker chains ws3-lg2-gl2 (chromosome 2) and c1-sh1-wx1 (chromosome 9) was studied. In mosaic maize genotypes, in chromosomes of which homozygous and heterozygous regions alternate, the stimulating effect of external homozygous background on recombination frequency (the juxtaposition effect) depends on marked heterozygous interval length and increases as it decreases. The presence of homozygous fragments within the marked interval can lead to disappearance or weakening of the juxtaposition effect, as well as to redistribution of crossovers within the interval. In maize, unlike Arabidopsis, the juxtaposition effect is not accompanied by disappearance or decrease of interference.

Selection of resistant maize genotypes under salt stress and drought conditions
    (CEP USM, 2024-10-07) Climenco, Oxana
The variability of the characters "seedling length" and "root length" at the initial stages of plant development depended significantly on the factors "genotype", "abiotic stress" and on the interaction "genotype x stress". The effect of the factor "genotype" was at a high level for the characters "number of branches in the panicle" and "panicle length". The values of the effect of the factor "genotype" for the characters "number of rows per cob" and "number of grains per row" were at an average level. Under osmotic stress conditions only two hybrids with the maternal line L1866 had the relatively high values of the «pollen grain diameter» character. Under saline stress conditions, the effects of both the "stress" factor and the "genotype x stress" interaction were significant. The highest values of the studied character demonstrated hybrids with paternal genotypes lines B73 and W23.

IMMUNOLOGIC EVALUATION OF MAIZE COLLECTION SAMPLES
(CEP USM, 2023) Bilici, Elena; Grajdieru, Cristina
Seven inbred maize lines from the active collection of Laboratory of plant genetic resources were tested for their susceptibility to fungal pathogens using visual evaluation of disease symptoms and molecular diagnostics. The highest infection rate was registered in MAN2492 and was 35%, therefore the respective genotype can be classified as susceptible. MAN2466 lacked symptoms of diseases and for MAN2488 minimum value of the respective parameter was registered (5%) – resistant genotype group. Quantitative analysis showed that the overall value of DNA sequences specific for the fungal genome was the lowest in the grain of MAN2488, MAN2491, MAN2470 genotypes.
