Item Evaluation of new hybrids of Salvia Sclarea L., with high essential oil content [Articol](Editura USM, 2025) Cotelea, Ludmila; Balmuș, Zinaida; Butnaraș, VioletaThe importance of the species Salvia sclarea L., its multiple uses, have stimulated genetic and breeding work to create new hybrids with high essential oil content, resistant to drought, frost and wintering. The biological material used is 33 F2 hybrids, simple, triple, double, stepped, complex, in the first, and second year of vegetation. The evaluated hybrids are distinguished by high height, long, compact inflorescences, due to the large number of branches (40 – 52) of the first (12.6 – 17.8) and second (22.4 – 35.6) order of the inflorescence. Determination of the essential oil content has shown that 72.7% of the evaluated hybrids have accumulated an essential oil content greater than 1,000%. In the first year of vegetation, the oil content recorded values ranging from 0.924 – 1.992%, and in the second year, 0.745 – 1.761%. 8 F2 hybrids with very high essential oil content of 1.409–1.761% were selected. The simple hybrid [AP115-11 S4 x AP 112-11 S4]F2 was highlighted for this character, with 1.587% in the first year and 1.761% essential oil recalculated to dry matter, in the second year of vegetation.Item Productivity indices in Lavandula Angustifolia mill. Varieties, sixth year of vegetation [Articol](Editura USM, 2025) Butnaraș, Violeta; Balmuș, Zinaida; Cotelea, LudmilaThe evaluation of quantitative character indices – lant height and diameter, number of flowering stems per plant, inflorescence and floral spike length, number of whorls on the floral spike, raw material yield, and essential oil content – allowed for the characterization and assessment of each lavender variety-clone. The varieties under study synthesized and accumulated an essential oil content at standard humidity (60%) exceeding 2% (Svetlana – 2.199%; Alba 7 – 2.188%), and on dry matter basis exceeding 5% (Svetlana – 5.498%; Alba 7 – 5.472%). Raw material yield varied from 3.6 t/ha to 7.7 t/ha depending on the variety, with the most productive being Svetlana (7.7 t/ha), Alba 7 (7.3 t/ha), and Favoare (6.7 t/ha). The essential oil yield in the evaluated varieties-clones ranged from 11.6 kg/t to 22.0 kg/t. The highest yields were recorded in the varieties: Svetlana (22.0), Alba 7 (21.8), and Favoare (17.1) kg of essential oil per ton of fresh inflorescences.Item Evaluation of inbred lines of Salvia Sclarea L. [Articol](Editura USM, 2025) Balmuș, Zinaida; Cotelea, Ludmila; Butnaraș, VioletaIn the process of breeding the species Salvia sclarea L., a fundamental objective was to diversify the initial breeding material and select lines with valuable quantitative characters and increased content of essential oils. As a result of research conducted with a large number of inbred lines, it was found that there are lines with full flowering in the first year of vegetation, as well as lines with an increased content of essential oils. Finally, lines with an essential oil content exceeding 2% (dry matter) were identified: M-69 453-82 S16 – 2,191%; M-69 428-82 S16 – 2,227%; M-69 815-82 S16 – 2,140%. Lines with essential oil content exceeding 1%: AP 2-11 S6– 1,642 %; AP 11-11 S6– 1,642 %; AP 28-11 S6– 1,221 %; AP 30-11 S6– 1,912 %; AP 66-11 S6– 1,643 %; AP 67-11 S6– 1,573 %; NC 6 -11 S6– 1,356 %; NC 4 -11 S6– 1,358 %; NC 19 -11 S6– 1,499 %; NC 38 -11 S6– 1,646 %; NC 98 -11 S6– 1,810 % etc. Thus, the selected lines were subjected to inbreeding during the flowering phase, in order to reproduce promising lines, which will later be included in breeding programs. The aim of the investigations was to create, evaluate and select initial breeding material with high-performance genetic potential.Item Aprecierea materialului inițial de ameliorare de salvie la indicii cantitativi ai uleiului esenţial(CEP USM, 2024) Cotelea, Ludmila; Balmuş, Zinaida; Butnaraş, VioletaAs a result of the evaluation of the initial breeding material for the quantitative indices of the essential oil, it was demonstrated that 72.5% of the number of evaluated hybrids synthesized, accumulated more than 1.0% essential oil recalculated to the dry matter; 21.6% of these hybrids demonstrated high essential oil content – 1.4-2.7% (dry matter). Exceptional were 2 simple hybrids, (Cr.p. 99 S13 x AP 52-11 S3)F2 and (AP 49-11 S3 x NC 61-11 S3)F2 with 2.611 and 2.703%. The initial improvement material, with a high content of essential oil, will be used in the development of new varieties of hybrid origin.Item Evaluarea și selectarea liniilor consangvinizate de perspectivă la specia Salvia sclarea l.(CEP USM, 2024) Balmuş, Zinaida; Cotelea, Ludmila; Butnaraş, VioletaThe importance of aromatic and medicinal plants is determined by the multiple uses of the essential oil in medicine, perfumery, cosmetics, aromatherapy, food etc. For this reason, research was focused on the diversification of the initial breeding material, the improvement of the assortment of hybrids and cultivars. Genetics and breeding, as well as creation of new cultivars and hybrids is a continuous process. Each newly approved, patented cultivar is more efficient than the previous ones. In the essential oil separated from the inflorescences of the inbred line AP 97-11 S6, according to the results obtained, identified 11 components, harvesting as major compounds linalyl acetate, 74,751% and linalool, 16.893%.Item HIBRIZI F1 DE SALVIA SCLAREA L., SIMPLI, TRIPLI ȘI DUBLI, CU CONȚINUT ÎNALT DE ULEI ESENȚIAL(CEP USM, 2024) Cotelea, Ludmila; Balmuş, Zinaida; Butnaraş, Violeta25 single, triple, double - step F1 complex hybrids of Salvia sclarea L. were studied. Hybrid genotypes have valuable quantitative characteristics, many of them forming long(50 – 62 cm), compact inflorescences, with a large number of first – order (12 – 15) and second – (15 – 26) branches, vertices and flower, which also results in high inflorescence yields. 13 exceptional hybrids of the most important characteres were selected, identified; they synthesize and accumulate 1,346 – 2,286 % (dry matter) essential oil.Item EVALUAREA SOIURILOR DE PLANTE MEDICINALE ȘI AROMATICE REZILIENTE LA FACTORII STRESOGENI AI MEDIULUI, BOLI ȘI DĂUNĂTORI(CEP USM, 2023) Balmuș, Zinaida; Cotelea, Ludmila; Butnaraș, Violeta; Goncearuc, Maria; Botnarenco, P.The varieties of Salvia sclarea provides a production of 15.4– 19.5t/ha of inflorescences and guarantees the yield of 54.5–73.5 kg/ha of essential oil. The essential oil content of Lavandula angustifolia varieties in the dry years is higher than in the years with normal atmospheric depositions. The productivity of the lavender varieties is higher (7,4 -7,7 t/ha) of inflorescences and 155,2- 179,2 kg/ha of essential oil. We can conclude that the varieties are part of different groups of maturity, high production of raw material, high content of essential oil. They are resistant to frost, winter and drought.
