TRANSLATION OF BINOMINAL EXPRESSIONS FROM ENGLISH INTO ROMANIAN WITHIN OFFICIAL EUROPEAN DOCUMENTS

Abstract

The present study aims at the analysis of the translation peculiarities of irreversible binominals from English into Romanian. The study will employ a corpus-based approach, drawing on a diverse range of binominal expressions extracted from a set of official European documents. We will emphasize the semantic, structural and translational peculiarities of binominals, acknowledging the importance of preserving semantic equivalence when applying a certain translation technique. The study will stress out the challenges inherent in translating binominal expression from English into Romanian in the framework of official translation.
