Abstract
The article examines the persistence of political myths in the public space of the Republic of Moldova, analyzing how they evolve from historical perceptions and identity narratives to modern tools of electoral manipulation and media propaganda. In a fragmented political context marked by geopolitical competition between East and West, myths become mechanisms for legitimizing power and shaping public opinion. The study proposes an interdisciplinary analysis that combines historical, sociopolitical and communicative perspectives, demonstrating how certain symbols and stereotypes — such as the “bridge state”, the “national savior” or the “external enemy” — are reconfigured to support electoral narratives. The conclusion highlights that political myths do not disappear, but adapt, becoming a subtle tool for the manipulation and control of contemporary public discourse.
