Abstract

Cercetarea fenomenului conotației se dovedește a fi una actuală și necesară, întrucât fenomenul în sine este unul ambiguu și abordat din multiple perspective. Prezentul studiu investighează natura, structura și statutul conotației în structura semantică a cuvântului, abordând fenomenul dintr-o perspectivă integratoare. Este evidențiată influența factorilor lingvistici, în special a sensurilor denotative, și extralingvistici: contextul social, istoric și cultural în formarea și funcționarea conotațiilor. Conotația este cercetată din perspectiva semanticii structurale, fiind argumentate accepțiile privind includerea și excluderea conotației din structura semantică a cuvântului. Totodată, cercetarea adoptă o abordare critică, bazată pe analiză, sinteză, descriere și deducție, având ca scop oferirea unei perspective cuprinzătoare asupra conotației ca fenomen ce posedă o structură complexă. The study of connotation proves to be both relevant and necessary, given the ambiguous nature of the phenomenon and the variety of perspectives from which it has been approached. This paper investigates the nature, structure, and status of connotation within the semantic structure of the word, adopting an integrative perspective. The influence of both linguistic factors, particularly denotative meanings, and extralinguistic factors such as social, historical, and cultural context is highlighted in the formation and functioning of connotations. Connotation is examined through the lens of structural semantics, with arguments presented for both its inclusion and exclusion from the semantic structure of the word. The research employs a critical methodology based on analysis, synthesis, description, and deduction, aiming to provide a comprehensive overview of connotation as a phenomenon with a complex internal structure.
