Abstract

This article addresses the issue of pedagogical methods used in the continuing professional development of librarians, emphasizing their importance in enhancing the efficiency and practical applicability of training processes. The research is based on two complementary methodological approaches: a documentary analysis of specialized literature and a quantitative study conducted through a questionnaire applied to librarians in the Republic of Moldova. The findings reveal a clear preference for participatory and interactive methods – such as training sessions, workshops, and case studies – over traditional approaches like lectures. Additionally, there is an increasing openness toward modern, flexible methods tailored to adult learning styles and the professional realities of library work. The conclusions highlight the need to adapt training strategies to the actual needs of librarians, by leveraging their professional experience, available resources, and institutional context, with the aim of fostering ongoing development of key professional competencies.
