Problema Basarabiei reflectată în ziarul francez „Messager du Midi” (1856) [Articol]

Abstract

The problem of Bessarabia after the end of the Crimean War occupied an important place for the Great Powers. In addition to European diplomacy, this issue also concerned public opinion. The French newspaper „Le Messager du Midi” approached the question of Bessarabia in its complexity. It analyzed the position of the Great Powers, which was an antagonistic one. France supported the Russian point of view, that is, the preservation of the city of Bolgrad with in the Russian Empire, while Great Britain and Austria supported its return to the Principality of Moldavia in accordance with the Treaty of Paris of March 30, 1856. The French newspaper presented the Bessarabian issue as an important one for European chancelleries.
