Abstract
This article examines an important aspect of consumer rights, namely that of purchasing a harmless food product. The purposes of this article are to analyze the normative acts regulating the food safety sector and the practical implementation of the provisions of the normative acts in this field. The analysis starts from the principle that food products must be harmless to the life and health of consumers. Afterwards, it is discussed how harmless are the food products containing food additives and what are the risks of these artificial, synthetic substances that are introduced into the food products. In the last resort, the legal mechanisms for consumer protection when purchasing harmless food products are analyzed, as well as how they are implemented in practice.
