Abstract

The purpose of the article is to clarify the phenomenon of white-collar crime in the private sector. To achieve the proposed goal, the following objectives were set: to study the doctrine in the field of white-collar crime; to conduct a comparative analysis of “white-collar crime” and “corporate crime”; to formulate the new direction of corporate criminology in con¬temporary criminological science.Taking into account the fact that white-collar crimes in the private sector are motivated not only by financial gain, but also by the opportunity to commit financial misdeeds, in order to develop methods for preventing this type of crime, three main steps must be simultaneously implemented towards “sanitizing” the job environment: 1) resetting the corporative behavior of the company (long-term activity); 2) changing priorities by reorien¬ting the vicious corporate culture towards the formation of corporate responsibility and ethics, which will ultimately reduce the risk of financial abuse (long-term activity); 3) reviewing weak and ineffective regulations by eliminating gaps and shortcomings, which will ultimately create a favorable environment for reducing financial misconduct (short-term activity).
