    The taste for beautifulness and the attempt to define it have accompanied people since Antiquity, but only, with the passage of time, depending on several factors, both objective and subjective, it undergoes transformations, removes its emphasis and modifies its priorities. In the second half of the 19th century, simultaneously with the acceptance of dogmatized, agreeable, objective and temperate beautifulness, an undermining of confirmed canons and ideals is being observed. Starting from the social modernity contradictions, Art for art’s sake, through such literary and artistic phenomena as Parnassianism, Symbolism and Aestheticism, begins the aesthetic categories of morality and utility separation, declares the art autonomy and the pursuit of pure, disinterested, opposed to any utility beautifulness, this one becoming a good, an aim in itself, that does not require any explanation and that can also be extracted, through aesthetic conversion, from the ugliness, grotesque, disgusting, thus, the beautifulness being discovered in areas that defy all aesthetic constants too.
