Terminologie et argumentation juridique en francais de specialite : le discours de Robert Badinter comme modele de persuation judiciaire et legislative [Articol]
(CEP USM, 2025) Bahneanu, Vitalina; Postovanu, Steluța
Legal terminology is distinguished by its precision and its roots in specific legal systems. Gérard Cornu highlights its dual technical and cultural role, while Jean Carbonnier emphasizes its normative power. Legal argumentation, essential for interpreting and justifying decisions, is based on structured reasoning and appropriate discursive strategies. Frédéric Rouvière stresses its role in the legal qualification of facts. Robert Badinter’s discourse illustrates the interplay between legal technicality and rhetorical persuasion, particularly in his plea for the abolition of the death penalty. His use of professional legal French combines terminological rigor with accessibility, drawing on historical, ethical, and legal references to persuade. The effectiveness of his argumentation relies on logical structure, striking rhetorical devices, and the appeal to universal values of justice and humanity.

Dynamic evolution of legal terminology: processes of derivation, compounding and semantic change
(CEP USM, 2024) Șchiopu, Lucia; Maxim, Irina
This article explores the dynamic nature of legal terminology, emphasizing that it evolves faster than the general lexicon due to extralinguistic factors and the need for legal systems to adapt to social changes. The creation of new legal terms is driven by the necessity to harmonize legislation with international standards, leading to continuous updates and transformations in legal language. Key word-building processes such as derivation, compounding, and calque are examined, highlighting their role in the development of specialized legal terms. The article also discusses semantic narrowing and broadening, which refine or expand legal concepts to enhance clarity and applicability in judicial contexts. Additionally, it addresses the phenomenon of reterminologizing and determinologizing, which reflects the dynamic interplay between specialized and general vocabulary in legal discourse.
