Item Idiom and culture. Challenges regarding strategies of translation(CEP USM, 2024) Corcodel, SvetlanaThe world of English idiomatic expressions is huge and diverse, and every aspect of their study certainly deserves attention. In order to understand the depth of this process, it has been necessary to find out what an ‘idiom’ is from both: linguistic and cultural perspectives. The study stresses the importance of idiomatic translation that is probably one of the most challenging types of translation because there are no expressions for which dictionaries have exact equivalents. The most important thing to keep in mind is the cultural difference the translator encounters during the translation process as well as understanding all the peculiarities, similarities and differences of the two languages in order to choose the appropriate translation strategies and achieve the same meaning as in the source text. Besides, the translator requires creativity, skills, willingness, and perseverance to search for the best equivalent.Item CHALLENGES IN TRANSLATING LEGAL TERMINOLOGY(2023) Corcodel, SvetlanaThis research work is a proof of an attempt to find peculiar aspects of legal terminology as a part of the language vocabulary. It is a kind of analysis and foreseeing of the legal terms creation, assimilation and their implementation into the actual specialized vocabulary. This research is a good source of information for terminologists helping them to choose what term should be used, what information and meaning it designates and when it should be used. This field needs a permanent study, because this specialized field is always in evolution that depends on the country development and progress.Item CHALLENGES OF LEGAL TRANSLATION(CEP USM, 2017) Corcodel, SvetlanaThis research work is a proof of an attempt to find peculiar aspects of legal terminology as a part of the language vocabulary. This definition implies that lexicography is concerned mainly with the principles underlying the making of dictionaries. This is quite true; lexicography does consider the prob lems and principles a lexicographer is faced with when he sits down to make a new dictionary. This huge product of lexicographic activity has become an object of consideration too, and it also falls within the scope of lexicography. To develop a full awareness of the problems in exicography and the ways to their solution, a scholar is advised to get acquainted first with the exicographic legacy he has come into and secondly, that it presents a clear-cut field of human innterest.
