Item PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT THROUGH INDIVIDUALISED APPROACH TO LEARNING(2024) Pascaru, Daniela; Șaganean, GabrielaThe article focuses on the learners’ personality traits that evolve throughout their lives. Changes in personality are typically accompanied by individual differences, implying that people differ in the development patterns as they move through adulthood. Usually when we talk about someone’s personality, we mean the features that make that person different from the other people, perhaps even unique. This aspect of personality is called individual differences. The defining characteristics of a person is that of being not only a product of natural biological evolution, but primarily of a social and cultural shaping of the personality. There are many internal and external factors that influence the personality traits, but it is the differentiated and individualised approaches to learning that facilitate improvement and development of talents and potentials, enhancing a better quality of life, achievement of dreams and aspirations.Item DEPICTING THE CHARACTER’S TRAITS IN THE ARTISTIC DIALOGUE(CEP USM, 2024) Șaganean, GabrielaArticolul se axează pe analiza particularităților dialogului ca tehnică narativă în ficțiune și rolul acestuia în crearea imaginii personajului literar (trăsături de caracter, pasiuni, obiceiuri, stare emoțională) prin mijloace lingvistice explicite și implicite. Imaginea personajului în dialog în proza modernă poate fi dezvăluită printr-o gamă destul de largă de mijloace lingvistice: epitet, metaforă, comparație, hiperbolă, joc de cuvinte, ironie și sarcasm, proverbe, zicători.Unele mijloace lexico-frazeologice și stilistice care descriu personajele necesită cunoștințe extralingvistice pentru a fi interpretate (aluzie, nume de locuri, referiri la date ale unor evenimente istorice, nume de oameni celebri, nume de cărți, teatre etc.) din partea cititorilor.Item SIMULTANEOUS INTERPRETATION FROM ROMANIAN INTO ENGLISH: SUPORT DE CURS(Editura USM, 2023) Șaganean, Gabriela; Solovei, VictoriaUn factor indiscutabil al momentului istoric actual este prezenţa traducerii practice în toate domeniile activităţii umane. Traducerea devine un mijloc important al dialogului intercultural dintre societăţile eterogene, contribuind la comunicarea şi înţelegerea reciprocă şi, deci, la apropierea pe diferite căi a celor mai diverse comunităţi lingvistice. Lucrarea de faţă a fost concepută în scopul asigurării unei formări profesionale adecvate a viitorilor specialişti în domeniul traducerii simultane care dictează necesitatea unei sistematizări a cunoştinţelor generale şi specifice în cadrul unor limbi concrete (limba engleză și limba română). Acest curs practic servește drept suport conceptual masteranzilor de la specialitatea Traducere și interpretare de conferințe în scopul familiarizării acestora cu terminologia și noțiunile utilizate atât în literatura de specialitate, cât și în viața profesională. Cursul are drept scop învățarea și utilizarea unor tehnici de interpretare prin aplicarea unor principii deja confirmate de practica profesională, pe care fiecare masterand le poate adapta în funcție de propria pregătire. Etapele de percepție, reținere și reformulare, audierea activă sunt studiate în cadrul cursului dintr-o perspectivă aplicativă ce îmbină componentele – interpretarea ca activitate umană multilaterală, factorii și variabilele ce intervin în desfășurarea acestei activități, autoevaluarea asupra performanței personale din partea masteranzilor în situațiile de interpretare simulate. Structura lucrării pentru cursul de Traducerea simultană și consecutivă din limba română în limba engleză destinat studenților anului I, ciclul II, Masterat, este o continuitate logică a materialului predat și cunoștințelor obținute în cadrul orelor teoretice, având drept scop implementarea acestora în practică. Culegerea dată are un caracter teoretico-aplicativ şi drept obiectiv dezvoltarea competenţelor şi deprinderilor pentru traducerea simultană din limba română în limba engleză şi viceversa. Exerciţiile elaborate vizează diferite fenomene lingvistice şi dificultăţi lexicale, gramaticale, stilistice și pragmatice ale discursului juridic din subdomeniile: dreptul internațional, drepturile omului, dreptul procesual, dreptul constituțional etcItem THE ROLE OF DIALOGUE IN LITERARY IMAGE CREATION(CEP USM, 2023) Pascaru, Daniela; Șaganean, GabrielaOne of the main characteristics of a literary text is its absolute anthropocentric character, consisting in the fact that the main image subject is a human being, i.e. the character in any literary work. Nowadays the issues of dialogue speech have intensive development as the communicative function of language is the most organically expressed in the dialogue and naturally appears in the process of dialogical interaction of people. The article focuses on the peculiarities of the dialogue as a particular compositional form of fiction and its role in creating the character image (gender, age, national, racial, local and temporal characteristics, social status) through explicit and implicit linguistic means. Description of character traits, names of women and men, age, nationality, profession, education, social status are explicit means by which the character image is created. Among the implicit means there are functionally coloured words in the characters’ speech, jargon, dialect and means that require the additional background knowledge to interpret them (allusion, place names, references to dates of historical events, names of famous people, names of books, theaters, etc.) on behalf of readers.Item POLITICA LINGVISTICĂ EUROPEANĂ(CEP USM, 2007) Șaganean, GabrielaEuropean language policy promotes the learning of several languages for all individuals in the course of their lives, so that the Europeans become plurilingual and intercultural citizens. It also focuses on the idea that language study offers opportunities to acquire independence and autonomy as learners and on the conviction that knowing different languages is a powerful factor in intellectual development, encouraging open-mindedness and flexibility. An essential part of the teachers’ role is to develop their learner’s confidence, social and intercultural skills, and the ability to communicate and connect with the world. They are not simply trainers. The possibilities of forming the terms in this area include simple units, compound and complex ones that are carefully assessed in order to identify the techniques of translating the renewable energy terminology from English into Romanian, offering effective strategies for interpreting the conceptual elements and structural characteristics of this field in translation from a pragmatic perspective. In translating the specialized text the translator must not only meet the users’s expectations in communication, but also th e cognitive ones. Therefore, the translator must provide the users with the necessary terminology and provide knowledge that meet their requirements.Item GRAMMAR INTERFERENCE IN TRANSLATI NG SOCIO-POLITICAL TEXTS FROM ENGLISH INTO ROMANIAN(CEP USM, 2014) Șaganean, GabrielaThe article deals with linguistic interference in socio-political texts translated from Romanian into English. The type of interference discussed is the grammatical/syntactic interference encountered in the process of translation. Interference that usually results in a higher degree of difficulty is the grea test when the languages involved are distinct in structure and system. This is the case of Romanian and English that are rather different due to the fact that they belong to different linguistic systems, the former being a synthetical language while the atter is an analytical one. Syntactic interference is quite frequent in students’ translations and it is probably most difficult to avoid particularly this type. Students have to disengage from thewording of the original, to a certain extent, and to learn to reformulate the sentences correctly in English. It requires a lot of training and experience. The given analysis is aimed at providing some guidance for future translation.
