Abstract

The article analyzes the migration of German settlers from Bessarabia and adjacent regions of the Russian Empire to Dobruja in the nineteenth century. It focuses on the causes, dynamics, and spatial structures of this migration, which unfolded in several phases between 1841 and the early 1890s. Drawing on migration history and colonization theory, the study demonstrates that this was a multi-stage, transregional movement shaped by structural constraints, institutional changes, and individual agency.
