The discovery of sex pheromones of pest insects and their use in pheromonal traps for pest monitoring led to the development of the self-sterilizing method of pest control. This method consists in attracting males into a pheromone trap treated with a chemical or biological sterilizing agent. The male accumulates this sterilizing agent and passes it on to the female at the moment of copulation. This agent leads to the blocking of embryo development and as a result the female lays sterile eggs. This article describes construction schemes of electro-optical devices and non-electric devices developed for the sterilization of pests by various methods.en
