Abstract
The publication and promotion of false information, particularly through the media, is not a new phenomenon. Often, false information is spread intentionally to mislead the public and to support and promote vested interests. In parallel with efforts to restore territorial integrity, intentional disinformation has been promoted by the representatives of the de facto administration in the Transnistrian region on an ongoing basis. Thus, more than 33 years after the ceasefire, the Transnistrian region continues to be outside the effective control of the constitutional authorities. As a result, the inhabitants on both banks of the Dniester continue to remain the victims of either ineffective policies or aggressive and biased disinformation. Furthermore, it is important for the Chisinau authorities to consciously take on the task of promoting honest and consistent information for the inhabitants of the left bank of the Dniester and the municipality of Tighina (Bender), so that the impact of disinformation is neutralized.
