Abstract

Financial education has evolved in recent decades in response to the complexity of the economic environment and the need for individual responsibility in managing resources. The specialized literature confirms its multidimensional character: a training process, resulting in applied skills and a tool for personal and professional development. International data shows that a quarter of adolescents do not reach the minimum level of financial literacy, which emphasizes the importance of integrating financial literacy into formal education. Recent research confirms the positive, albeit variable, impact of educational programs on financial health and saving behaviors. In the Republic of Moldova, academic and institutional initiatives point to a promising, but insufficiently consolidated, direction. For non-economics students, financial literacy becomes a transversal competence with direct relevance in professions such as law, medicine, engineering or the arts. Its integration into non-economics university programs is essential for the training of specialists capable of making rational and sustainable decisions in a complex and dynamic society.
