”ISTORIA ESTE UN COȘMAR DIN CARE ÎNCERC SĂ MĂ TREZESC”: PROZA LUI JAMES JOYCE ÎNTRE REVOLUȚIE ȘI PACIFISM

Abstract

Studiul este dedicat elucidării conceptului de istorie în romanele lui James Joyce cu referintă la teoria istoriei filosofului italian Giambattista Vico și ideile sale despre cursul istoriei umane. Sunt prezentate etapele formularii științifice a istoriei ca o analogie pentru eforturile lui James Joyce de a gasi o nouă artă a literaturii și de a crea o nouă mitologie pentru cititorii secolului al XX-lea. Deasemenea sunt cercetate conexiunile dintre mitologie, artă, istorie úi literatură pentru a descoperi sensuri noi în textura romanului ”Ulise” de James Joyce.

The study is dedicated to the explanation of the concept of history in the works of James Joyce with reference to the historical theories of the Italian philosopher Giambattista Vico and his ideas about the course of human history. The study also presents the main stages of the scientifical formulation of history as an analogy for the eforts of James Joyce to find a new art of literature and to create a new mythology for the readers of the XXth century. The study also includes the research of the connections between mythology, art, history and literature in order to find new meanings in the texture of the novel ”Ulysses” by James Joyce.
