The article addresses the topic of thematic and information structures of the message in the English literary texts and the effect these arrangements have upon the reader in the cognitive and aesthetic processes of text reception. The study draws on the mechanisms that explain how the sequencing of elements in the clause contribute to the flow of information and topic development in a paragraph as a unit of text analysis. It also analyzes various patterns of thematic and information structures and seeks to evaluate the function of marked and unmarked structures of the author’s thematic choice in a number of literary excerpts with a view to identifying the pragmatic effect of these arrangement patterns in English literary fiction.en
