Abstract

The study explores the television field for identifying relevant aspects of its current profile within the global information ecosystem, which has redefined communicational boundaries. The evolution of technologies has led to significant phenomena in the ecosystem [46,p. 18], so in the competition with interactive media, television has been substantially transformed itself for remaining a valid option for the users’ content choices in the proximity of digital interaction [15, p. 5]. In the context of technological convergence and digitalization, television has lost its supremacy in mass communication that lasted for decades [11]. This text aims to capture some of the particularities of the new television, within a conceptual approach that emphasizes on the symbiotic relationship between technology and television in its evolution. The application part provides historical background and actual trends (convergent modalities, digital formats) of the Romanian audiovisual system within the post-communist development model, from institutional perspective (2024-2025).
