This article aims to analyze some causes of the language diversity and the way language changes and adapts in a society where members possess the ability of speaking more than one language. We will mostly rely on Republic of Moldova example, where bilingual communication has been much used in the Soviet period and went through many changes since then. We will also bring some examples of the current expressions among professionals and young people who due to their extended social communication make an unconscious language choice. The paper also explores how the language shifts from one generation to another. One of the most visible trends in Moldovan society is the bilingual lexical variation and borrowing from English at the same time maintaining a certain lexical variation from Russian.en
