A positive image of the police bodies represents an essential precondition in consolidating the population’s trust in the State’s institutions. The sociological researces reveal a medium / low level of populations’ trust in police, in the framework of a high level of corruption, of the political instability and as an effect of political events of April 2009. Accordingly, the consolidation of the police’ credibility in the eyes of the Moldovan society becomes of an urgent necessity. The present article tries to study both the general image of the police in the society, and the factors which can decisively influence this general image. The purpose of this research consists in offering some concrete measures which would improve the police image in the local society.en
