Abstract

On the basis of the testimonies realised by the author, the individual destinies of the ‘Bucuria’ Confectionery Factory, an enterprise known not only in the Moldovan SSR, but throughout the Soviet Union and even abroad, are presented. It emphasised the human and cultural factor as essential dimensions in the proper functioning of the catering enterprise. The memoirs have made it possible to develop a general picture of the cultural life of the enterprise. There were periods when the factory employed more than 3,500 people in three shifts. The manufactured goods were taken directly from the conveyor belt and transported by lorries to the railway station. The factory was always visited by various delegations, including artists, cosmonauts.
