Abstract

The paper addresses aspects related to the physical health of physical education teachers of different ages and genders. It mentions the risk factors for their health and the need for a responsible attitude of teachers towards their own health. Research objectives: establishing individual values of body mass and height of physical education teachers; determining BMI and evaluating the result in relation to existing standards; developing conclusions and hygienic recommendations. Research methods: determining body height with a thalimeter, determining body mass with a medical scale. 60 people, physical education teachers, were involved in the research. from the Resource Center for Continuing Education, IEFS, USM. It was established that physical education teachers have normal BMI indices up to the age of 31, after which the share of overweight people is constantly increasing. The share of obese female teachers is about 33% in all age groups, except for the 25-30 age group. Physical education teachers face the problems of overweight and obesity starting from the age of 41-50. These results indicate the need to change the lifestyle and diet of physical education teachers, both men and women, and to systematically monitor BMI in order to maintain body mass stability and preserve individual health.
