Abstract
The scientific novelty and originality of the research stem from both the proposed aim and objectives, as well as from the methodology applied within this dissertation. Of particular significance is the fact that this paper explores, for the first time, the semantic and functional aspects of translating realia-words from I. Creangăʼs work Amintiri din copilărie in two distinct translations: Memories of My Boyhood by A. Cartianu and R.C. Johnston, and Recollections from Childhood by A.L. Lloyd. This original approach makes a significant contribution to the field of translation and literary studies, offering a fresh perspective on the process of transposing and interpreting I. Creangăʼs work within the cultural milieu of the English language.
