Abstract
The process of globalization, which is a complex one, including the fact that it both counts on unity and diversity - the approach implies implicitly the global – local correlation, both at the level of each nation and at international level. The formation of nations, as community entities claiming to have a political personality, is indissolubly linked to the emergence and affirmation of the ideology of nationalism - linked to the concept of the national state. Another ideology, the multiculturalism, starts from the experience that there are ethnically defined groups that want to preserve their specifics and differences, considering that recognition, or even respect for diversity, is not incompatible with the political unity of a country, on the contrary, it can be integrated into it.
