Reflectarea imaginii lui Avram Iancu în Țara Bistrei în perioada interbelică [Articol]

Abstract

The reflection of Avram Iancu’s image in the Land of Bistra during the interwar period. Through his acts of bravery during the revolution of 1848-1849 in the area of the Apuseni Mountains, but also through the values that guided his entire life, Avram Iancu remained in the eyes of his contemporaries with an image of a hero. Since his lifetime, Avram Iancu has enjoyed the interest of historiography and literature, which over time focused on aspects related to his life and activity. Over time, several works have been created that target the field of popular literature, religious literature, pictographic art or public monuments. The birth of Greater Romania in 1918 and the celebrations in 1924 related to the 100th anniversary of Avram Iancu’s birth represented the favorable context for the spread of Avram Iancu’s cult among Romanians in Transylvania and beyond. In this context, several attempts to preserve Avram Iancu’s memory through popular creations, in different parts of Transylvania, are reported. The present study aims to find out how the memory of Avram Iancu was reflected in the northern part of Bihor County during the interwar period, by trying to reconstruct the atmosphere of the interwar Bihor village and its inhabitants.
