Abstract
In the context of globalized medical education, communication competence and specialized terminology in English have become essential for medical students. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of integrating interactive teaching approaches and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in developing linguistic and professional (soft and hard) skills among first-year medical students at Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Conducted over 15 weeks, the quasi-experimental study involved 40 students enrolled in the English for Medical Purposes (EMP) course. The experimental group engaged in activities using digital tools such as ChatGPT, Kahoot!, Wordwall, Quizizz, Grammarly, and YouTube. Methods included vocabulary games, medical video analysis, gamified quizzes, writing exercises, and simulated dialogues with AI. AI tools offered personalized feedback and real-time support, while interactive methods increased engagement and reduced learning anxiety. Challenges included occasional technical issues and the need for continuous teacher supervision. The study concludes that combining AI with interactive strategies significantly improves both language proficiency and soft skills, offering a promising direction for future medical language education.
