Abstract

This scientific investigation explores the scope of the law of armed conflicts in the context of the prohibition of the use of force in international relations and examines the interaction between international legal norms governing armed conflicts and the principle of the prohibition of force. The primary aim of the article is to analyze and clarify how international legal norms related to armed conflicts apply and interact with the principle of the prohibition of force in international relations. The main objectives of the paper are to identify and explain the legal foundations of the law of armed conflicts, to assess their compatibility with the norms prohibiting the use of force, and to analyze recent cases to illustrate practical application. The research methods utilized include the legal analysis of international texts, such as the United Nations Charter and the Geneva Conventions, the analysis and evaluation of relevant scholarly literature on the subject, and the expert opinions in international law. These methods enable a detailed assessment of how the law of armed conflicts is applied in the context of the prohibition of the use of force. The main results obtained reveal that, despite the general prohibition on the use of force, the law of armed conflicts remains essential for protecting individuals and limiting suffering during conflicts. The study highlights the need for more effective harmonization of legal norms to address contemporary challenges and ensure respect for human rights in conflict situations. This paper underscores the importance of continuing international efforts to strengthen legal regimes governing armed conflicts and to prevent the unlawful use of force in international relations.
