Abstract

This paper analyses the accelerated evolution of the Republic of Moldova’s legal status in relation to the European Union, highlighting the normative, institutional, and geopolitical implications of the rapid accession trajectory. While the EU’s strategic shift after 2022 opened unprecedented opportunities, the pace of alignment to the acquis and institutional expectations raises risks of formal convergence without substantial consolidation. The analysis identifies key legal challenges related to conditionality, reversibility of negotiations, and consistency of EU enlargement policy, concluding that a balanced approach between political ambition and juridical preparedness is essential.
