Abstract

Ramón María del Valle-Inclán was an author whose works were built on much more diverse principles than those of Spanish Modernism, or even of his own invention– “esperpento”. The article aims to present some of the author´s linguistic and stylistic predilections scientifically discovered and classified. These were not circumscribed to one particular literary movement or exclusively to the “Generación del ´98”. Cardinal life events, literary works and critique opinions of Valle arisen during the 19th and 20th centuries could provide valid means of expression in the 21st century. The revision of Valle-Inclán´s creation endeavours to connect the present-day reader to one of the most original and prodigious renovative ideas implemented to remodel, revitalise and embellish the Spanish language.
