Abstract

The paper aimed the ecotourism potential evaluation of the Center Development Region of the Republic of Moldova. as a result of the investigations carried out, the protected areas of this region were briefly described, which represent true pearls for the practice of ecotourism both at the national and international level. Thus, the territory of the Center Development Region of the Republic of Moldova possesses 401 natural state protected areas (1 national park – Orhei), 3 scientifc reserves, 28 geological and paleontological monuments, 14 hydrological monuments, 4 scientifc reserves, 28 geological and paleontological monuments, 14 hydrological monuments, 4 botanical monuments represented by sectors representative with forest vegetation, 276 centuries old trees, 26 natural forest reserves, 3 natural reserves of medicinal plants, 20 landscape reserves, 1 resource reserve, 14 areas with multifunctional management, 8 monuments of landscape architecture, 1 dendrological garden, 1 botanical garden and 1 zoo, which facilitates the practice of ecotourism in this region.
