Abstract
Native electrophoresis was used to study changes in the composition and relative content of
peroxidase isoforms in the leaves of 4 tomato varieties under the influence of water and thermal
stresses in the offspring of plants infected with viral agents (tobacco mosaic virus, TMV and
tomato aspermia virus, VAT). Under the stress conditions no additional zones of peroxidase iso forms were detected in the electrophoretic spectra. However, changes in the intensity of certain
peroxidase zones were noted. Tomato genotypes Jacota and S. pimpinellifolium demonstrated the
most significant increase in peroxidase activity, which was reflected in an increase of the intensity
of isoforms zones with average molecular weight under conditions of temperature and water
stress. In the progeny of tomato plants infected with TMV and BAT, the aftereffect of the viral
infection was accompanied by an increase in peroxidase activity of isoform zones with average
molecular weight in susceptible varieties (Jacota, Mary Gratefully), whereas in the progeny of
infected tomato variety Rufina, which carries resistance genes to TMV, and in the wild variety S.
pimpinellifolium, zones with low molecular weight are increased.
