Item BIOLOGICAL APPLICATIONS OF MOLYBDENUM INORGANIC COMPOUNDS(CEP USM, 2020) Fuior, ArcadieMolybdenum is an essential element for nature in both organic and inorganic environments. It is present in more than 50 enzymes that catalyze very important redox reactions for the majority of the living organisms and for the entire biogeochemical cycle of nitrogen. Biocompatibility of this metal within various chemical combinations motivated the investigation of eventual useful biological properties. In this revi ew article, molybdenum compounds are explored in order to highlight their applications in biology and medicine as promising antitumor, antibacterial, antiviral and antioxidant agents.
