Item PROCEDEE DE OBŢINERE ŞI PURIFICARE A NOILOR PREPARATE ANTIOXIDANTE DE ORIGINE PROTEICĂ DIN BIOMASA CIANOBACTERIEI SPIRULINA PLATENSIS(2009) Efremova, Nadejda; Reva, Veaceslav; Bulimaga, Valentina; Gulea, Aurelian; Chiriac, Tatiana; Rudic, ValeriuItem SYNTHESIS, STRUCTURE AND BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY OF COPPER(II) COMPLEXES WITH 1,3-DIHYDROXY-2-METHYL-2- (SALICYLIDENEAMINO)PROPANE AND SOME OF ITS DERIVATIVES(Academia de Ştiinţe a Moldovei, 2012) Olan, O.; Bulimaga, Valentina; Rudic, Valeriu; Paholco, Chiril; Tsapkov, Victor I.; Gulea, AurelianItem β-ALANINATO-µ3 -OXOTRINUCLEAR IRON(III) CLUSTER AS REGULATOR OF SPIRULINA PLATENSIS BIOCHEMICAL COMPOSITION: CRYSTAL STRUCTURE AND SPECTRAL CHARACTERISTICS(Academia de Ştiinţe a Moldovei, 2006) Lazarescu, Ana; Shova, Sergiu; Bulimaga, Valentina; Turta, Constantinβ-Alanine is known as a non-protein amino acid. The importance of this amino acid is that it is a precursor of vitamin B3 and dipeptide L-carnosine, both of which revealing neuroprotective and detoxificating effects on cytotoxic α, β-aldehydes [1-3]. These biological properties together with coordination ability of amino acid have prompted us to examine the product of β-alanine interaction with iron(III) salt with the purpose of its administratingin cultivation media of Spirulina platensis. The new μ3-oxotrinuclear coordination compound namely [Fe3O(β-Ala)6(H2O)3](NO3)7⋅3H2O (1) was synthesized using earlier described procedure [4] and slightly modified. The title compound has been studied by single crystal X-ray diffraction, IR and 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy. The complex 1 crystallizes in monoclinic system, P21/n space group, with following unit cell parameters: a = 11.5141(7), b = 12.0475(8) c = 34.9902(17) Å, β = 95.157(4)º. The three iron(III) ions are joint by the central oxygen (μ3-O2-) and six carboxylate moieties. The apical positions of each metal centers are occupied by water molecules, thereby completing the octahedral coordination sphere. The presence of amino acid ligands in protonated form determined the large charge of cation-complex (+7). Thus, complex 1 presents a typical μ3-oxotrinuclear molecular structure similar to that reported previously [4,5]. The 57Fe Mössbauer spectra (MS) at room temperature and 80K of this compound, consist of two peaks, fitted as one doublet, the parameters of which indicate the presence of iron(III) in high spin state (S=5/2) with quite symmetrical environment. The complex 1 was used as supplement in cultivation media of Spirulina platensis. In concentrations up to 30mg/l the administrated compound increases proportionally the productivity of microalgae and improves the biochemical composition of biomass.Item SCREENING OF BIOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF MOV2O2S2- AND MOV2O4-BASED COORDINATION COMPLEXES: INVESTIGATION OF ANTIBACTERIAL, ANTIFUNGAL, ANTIOXIDATIVE AND ANTITUMORAL ACTIVITIES VERSUS GROWING OF SPIRULINA PLATENSIS BIOMASS(Elsevier, 2021) Gulea, Aurelian; Fuior, Arcadie; Garbuz, Olga; Bulimaga, Valentina; Zosim, Liliana; Cebotari, Diana; Toderaș, IonThis paper deals with the biological potential of coordination compounds based on binuclear core [MoV2O2E2]2+ (E = O or S) coordinated with commercially available ligands such as oxalates (Ox2−), L-cysteine (L-cys2−), L-histidine (L-his−), Iminodiacetate (IDA2−), Nitrilotriacetate (HNTA2− or NTA3−) or ethylenediamine tetraacetate (EDTA4−) by means of various in vitro assays in a screening approach. Results suggest that the obtained complexes show weak antibacterial and antifungal properties while not being cytotoxic on cancerous and mammalian cells. In contrast, [Mo2O2E2(L-cys)2]2− complexes stand out as powerful antioxidant, whereas [Mo2O2E2(EDTA)]2− associating tetraphenylphosphonium counter-cations display strong antibiotic activity. Finally, some complexes have evidenced a positive activity towards the growing of spirulina platensis together with a modification of the proportions of biological components inside the cells. These findings reveal promising bioactivity of the bridged binuclear Mo(+V) cores inside complexes and encourage further research for new highly active yet non-toxic molecules for biological and biomedical applications.
