    MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS OF MEDICAL AND NON-MEDICAL STUDENTS FROM THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

    Since the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the educational system, university students facing various challenges, one of which is the challenge of the global recession. Although medical and non-medical students are willing to support pandemic response efforts, how the crisis has affected their mental health remains uncertain. This study aimed to assess the mental health problems of medical and non-medical students from the Republic of Moldova during the COVID-19 pandemic. The findings of this study suggest that medical and non-medical students’ mental health is a public health issue that has become even more critical in the context of a pandemic, underlining the need to reinforce prevention, surveillance, and access to care.

    ONLINE LEARNING DURING PANDEMIC: MAINTAINING STUDENT MOTIVATION IN A REMOTE TEACHING CONTEXT

    COVID-19 has forced educational institutes all around the world to suspend in-person teaching and adopt emergency remote teaching (ERT). The unprecedented academic environment brought by the pandemic led to the evolution of online teaching as an ineluctable tool for education. The process of helping students to stay motivated while learning remotely and without face-to-face support from the teacher can be challenging. This study highlights the students’ perception of and motivation towards online classes in respect to internet connectivity and accessibility. Since online teaching is essentially a student-centered learning approach, the motivational level of students plays an important role in making teaching protocols effective. In this paper we will explore several factors which are determinants for online learning and play an important role in diminishing the students’ motivation to learn. The present research illustrates that motivation is the influential factor in learning activity and the teacher needs to be more creative in delivering material during learning activity in a virtual environment.

    In the context of the continuous development of society, in all its spheres of activity, communication remains the essential element in its evolution. Communication is a complex process, approached by specialists from various perspectives, because it is an existential process. Depending on the field of research, communication is studied on various dimensions. Scientific communica- tion is of particular interest due to the accelerated development of science which later leads to the development of society. At national and international level, researchers meet to discuss the subject of scientific communication in the context of Open Access to Scientific Information. The way of organizing scientific events, their role, but also the characteristics of scientific communication in the online environment lately is a current research topic.

    Identifying the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the use of social networks by adolescents, detecting the frequency and purpose of their use, reveals the importance and essence of social networks. The research focuses on presenting the differences identified in access frequency, purpose, and emission states as well as the benefits of using social networks and the disadvantages of social networks in interpersonal communication. Social networks have both a positive and a negative impact on our lives, whether we use them for communication, to play, to learn or to build relationships.
