    The matters of the country had to be accomplished by both the grand and the lower boyars. It is easier to identify the reconstruct the careers in the “service of the country” concerning the high dignitaries active during the reigns of Peter the Lame. However, they were not the only ones accomplishing the tasks received. An armaş such as Şeptilici proved his loyalty to the prince during the battles with the Cossacks. A vătaf went to set the limits between two villages, while another one gave his own money for the tribute to be paid to the Porte. All these situations stand to prove that – regardless of their dignity – all of the boyars showed “steady and loyal service” to the prince.
