The purpose of this article is to analyze the Republic of Moldova’s way to EU accession trough identification of existing external and internal challenges that can affect somehow the process. It is an analytical study that is based on an interdisciplinary approach. The methods used in this research paper are documents analysis, alongside with review of academic literature,
civil society studies and media sources. Also were applied observation, systemic approach and event-analysis methods. In this way are identified external challenges as EU factor, regional security context, external influences. Through internal challenges are analyzed the reform process,
capacity to keep the pace of European integration process and Transnistrian conflict.
