The Republic of Moldova has no energy resources of its own and is completely dependent on
imports of fossil fuels and electricity. A consequence of the war is the lack of limited access to the
markets of the Russian Federation, especially for Moldovan farmers, which affected exports to eastern
markets, access to them being difficult or even blocked by the war.
This article aims to provide the energy security situation of the Republic of Moldova before the
beginning and during the war in Ukraine. The author tries to present the efforts of our country to face
the new regional challenges and draw some perspectives on providing the necessary resources without
significantly affecting the well-being of the citizens of the country.
