ȘTEFAN CEL MARE ȘI SFÂNT, DE LA DISTANȚA CELOR 520 DE ANI

Abstract

Acest dialog cu academicianul Andrei Eșanu și Valentina Eșanu, importanți istorici din Republica Moldova, are ca scop prezentarea unor aspecte semnificative din viața și domnia lui Ștefan cel Mare, domn al Țării Moldovei între anii 1457 și 1504, prin unghiul de vedere al științei istorice a zilei de astăzi și cu ocazia aniversării celor 520 de ani de la trecerea lui în nemurire. Sunt prezentate date, mai noi sau mai vechi, despre originea, educația și contextele istorice naționale și internaționale care au format calitățile morale, comportamentale, ca om de stat, politician diplomat, excelent strateg militar, viteaz comandant de oști, ctitor de biserici, de fiu, de tată și soț etc. ale lui Ștefan cel Mare, numit și Sfânt, care i-au asigurat rezistența ca domnitor în războaie și în administrarea țării. Frecvența și durabilitatea imaginii lui Ștefan cel Mare, atât în imaginarul colectiv – în legende și narațiuni de alte tipuri – al multor generații de români moldoveni, cât și în studiile cercetătorilor autohtoni și străini face din el unul dintre cele mai prețioase simboluri ale identității naționale, însemnând demnitatea și rezistența unui popor.

This dialogue with the academician Andrei Eșanu and Valentina Eșanu, important historians from the Republic of Moldova, aims to present some significant aspects of the life and reign of Stephen the Great, lord of Moldova between 1457 and 1504, through the perspective of the historical science of today and on the occasion of the 520th anniversary of his passing into immortality. Data are presented, newer or older, about the origin, education and national and international historical contexts that formed the moral, behavioral qualities, as a statesman, diplomat politician, excellent military strategist, valiant army commander, church builder, son, of father and husband, etc. of Stephen the Great, also called the Saint, who ensured his resistance as a ruler in wars and in the administration of the country. The frequency and durability of the image of Stephen the Great, both in the collective imaginary – in legends and other types of narratives – of many generations of Romanian Moldovans, as well as in the studies of local and foreign researchers, makes him one of the most precious symbols of national identity, signifying the dignity and resilience of a people.
