UNELE CONSIDERAȚII PRIVITOARE LA CLASIFICAREA ARHIVISTICĂ A DOCUMENTELOR

Abstract

The main archival tools for classifying funds, collections, archival files in their capacity as storage units (s.u.) and documents / information are the catalogues / registers of different types with which archivists and researchers operate. They offer the possibility to operatively find the information according to the requests, providing data also about the context of the creation of documents and files. Unlike the archival classification of files on funds, which determines the location of the file, the period, the name of the fund, the deadlines, the inventory and file number, the classification must meet specific requirements and provide effective tools for file data, details that can also serve as a search engine in an automated system, which is a more advanced stage in archival processing. The respective stage can be accomplished by the correct elaboration of the automated information systems of the source institutions to complete the archives and the archives themselves, and by digitizing the documents kept by the state. The Automated Information System (AIS) can replace the traditional archival tools (guides, inventories, indices, registers, repertoires, etc.) by fundamentally modifying the scientific-informative body of the archives. Here, however, there is a risk of diminishing the requirements for archival processing of files containing old documents, manuscripts from General Department of National Archive collections, un published documents / information. Before being included in the AIS, these valuable heritage files need to be opened and studied rigorously from an archival point of view and then classified according to current standards.
