Abstract

Ultimele publicaţii semnate de regretatul acad. Silviu Berejan s-au referit în exclusivitate la probleme care vizează atât progresele, cât şi impedimentele dezvoltării limbii române dintre Prut şi Nistru: „Funcţionarea oficială a două limbi în Republica Moldova – obstacol în calea integrării europene a acestei ţări” (Berejan, 2006, pp. 39-43); „Situaţia limbii române în Republica Moldova din perspectiva integrării europene” (Berejan, 2006, pp. 63-68); „Degradarea vorbirii orale într-un stat în care funcţionează paralel două limbi oficiale” (Berejan, 2007, pp. 28-32). La distanţa de două decenii de atunci, constatările prof. Silviu Berejan rămân la fel de valabile, iar în contextul negocierilor de aderare la Uniunea Europeană, necesitatea elaborării unei noi politici lingvistice e mai actuală ca oricând. The latest publications signed by the late academician Silviu Berejan exclusively referred to issues that target both the progress and the impediments to the development of the Romanian language between the Prut and the Dniester: “The official functioning of two languages in the Republic of Moldova – an obstacle to the European integration of this country” (Berejan, 2006, pp. 39-43); “The situation of the Romanian language in the Republic of Moldova from the perspective of European integration” (Berejan, 2006, pp. 63-68); “The degradation of oral speech in a state where two official languages function in parallel” (Berejan, 2007, pp. 28-32). Two decades later, Prof. Silviu Berejan’s findings remain just as valid, and, in the context of the accession negotiations to the European Union, the need to develop a new language policy is more relevant than ever.
